Overview.

As a passionate actor, I’ve greatly enjoyed exploring the world of voice acting. In 2023, I decided to take my efforts to the next level by applying my own marketing and design expertise to build a strong personal brand. This project, which began in 2024, encompassed the full development of my brand identity and the creation of a custom website to effectively showcase my voice-over work.

To achieve this, I designed a modern, visually engaging website that is clean, easy to navigate, and informative. The site includes a professional portfolio, integrated contact forms, and SEO optimization to enhance discoverability. Additionally, I developed a cohesive brand identity. This project not only highlights my voice-over work but also serves as a testament to how strategic design and marketing can elevate a personal brand.

The Brand.

Developing my personal brand was an incredibly fun and rewarding process! Since this brand is a direct reflection of me, I had the freedom to incorporate my favorite colors into the palette and design unique visuals inspired by sound waves. I wanted the logo to be especially meaningful—something that visually represented both my identity and my work. By combining a bishop chess piece, a nod to my last name, with a sound wave, I created a logo that felt personal and aligned with those services.

When it came to messaging, authenticity was my top priority. If my brand is a reflection of me, then my voice—both literally and figuratively—needed to come through in the copy. Surprisingly, this was more challenging than expected! I love to talk (go figure!), but finding the balance between being authentic, concise, and informative required careful refinement. Ultimately, I developed messaging that feels true to who I am while effectively communicating my services.

Users can easily browse through my experience, either by scrolling or jumping directly to the specific types of work that interest them. This intuitive design ensures a seamless and engaging way for visitors to explore my portfolio and find what they’re interested in.

Whether the user is a returning client or just curious about my services, this feature makes it easy for anyone to sign up to receive direct communcation to stay informed about fresh content.

Global Contact Form

To make reaching out easy and visually engaging, I designed a standout global contact form featured across multiple pages. Instead of a standard, static form, this section incorporates an eye-catching autoplay waveform video, reinforcing the voice-over theme while drawing attention. This dynamic approach not only enhances the site’s aesthetic appeal but also encourages visitors to connect in a way that is simple on the user and inviting.

My Website Goals

There were several key reasons why I needed a dedicated website for my voice-over work. First, I wanted a searchable online presence beyond audition site profiles—one that fully represents me and my services on my own terms.  Additionally, many direct voice-over opportunities require a professional website as part of the submission process, making this a necessary step in expanding my reach. Finally, reels and demos are essential to any voice actor’s goals, and I needed a dedicated space to showcase my work as it evolves.

 

My Process

I approached this project like any other. I started by reserving my domain, then mapped out my concepts and layout ideas in Figma, allowing for quick experimentation and refinement. Once satisfied with the design, I built each page one at a time, ensuring functionality was properly integrated before finalizing the overall look. The last step was implementing SEO to maximize searchability and make sure my site could effectively support my goals.

Being Searchable

After launching my website, I quickly saw the impact of having a dedicated online presence. Within just two months, I was discovered and contacted for voice-over work—without any additional marketing efforts beyond the site itself. This confirmed the effectiveness of my SEO strategy and reinforced the importance of having a personal platform outside of audition sites.

Additionally, my online presence has been recognized by generative search, further increasing visibility in this evolving landscape of information discovery. As a result, my website has become a powerful tool for attracting new opportunities and establishing credibility in the industry.

Direct Connections

Having my own website has also strengthened my ability to build and maintain industry connections. By sharing my site with contacts made through various audition platforms, I’ve made it easier for them to reach out to me directly—bypassing the often cumbersome third-party processes.

This streamlined communication has not only fostered stronger relationships but has also led to direct opportunities that might have otherwise been lost in platform limitations. As a result, I’ve been able to grow my experience while maintaining valuable professional connections in a more efficient and accessible way.
